Gift from Bethlehem Steel CEO to his wife’s hometown in Carbon County seeing new life

It’s hard to miss: the Mrs. Charles Schwab School overlooking Weatherly Borough in Carbon County.

The former high school, built in 1901 and donated by her husband, the famous steel magnate Charles Schwab, has sat shuttered since 1991. Soon, it will have new life as affordable housing.
